Hello everyone! My name is Christian Hillis. I'm a 23 year old classically trained flutist from Texas who moved to California just about a year ago. I  received my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Sam Houston State University and plan to start my Master's at the University of Redlands. 

As a lover of music and the arts, the uplifting of Black voices and our presence in classical music is more important than ever. My goal with this blog is not only to tell our stories, but to demand action. Classical Music's long history of racism has created a barrier that continues to keep Black musicians from succeeding. From class to education systems, wealth and so much more, I plan to unfold these topics and discuss their effects on the Black community. I truly hope that when people read these blogs, they become informed, inspired, and choose to participate in the active effort to make change for Black classical musicians everywhere.
